A Wizz Air Malta Airbus A321neo, registration 9H-WDU, operating the Milan Malpensa (MXP) – Málaga (AGP) service (reported as W46307) was involved in a ground-handling contact incident on 14 February 2026, when the aircraft struck a ladder while taxiing at Malpensa. Reporting indicated the contact affected the left sharklet/wingtip area, with photos circulated showing visible damage.
According to follow-on reporting, the aircraft departed MXP. Still, they then stopped its climb around FL190, entered a hold, and returned to Malpensa, landing back on runway 35R before taxiing to parking, consistent with crews reassessing airworthiness/impact after the ground event was communicated.
Wizz Air’s public statement described the disruption as due to “unplanned technical requirements” and said the airline performed additional maintenance checks “in line with safety procedures.” The carrier also said affected passengers were assisted at the airport, including meal vouchers, and many were reaccommodated onto another aircraft with a new crew to reduce knock-on impact.
