Southwest Airlines flight 2094, operating from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale, diverted to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on the night of March 6 after the crew responded to what the airline described as a possible security matter involving a passenger. The aircraft landed safely in Atlanta at about 9:06 p.m. local time, where law enforcement boarded the jet and removed the individual in question.
The incident briefly raised concerns among passengers and added to the run of security-related disruptions that can force airlines to make precautionary diversions even when the underlying threat is unclear. In this case, authorities later said the investigation found no credible threat, and reporting indicated that no charges were filed against the passenger who was removed. Southwest said passengers were later re-accommodated and continued to Fort Lauderdale on another aircraft, with the airline apologizing for the delay.
