On January 5, 2024, a brand new 2-month-old Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 performing flight from Portland to Ontario, Canada, lost an emergency exit door and window panel while climbing out. The oxygen masks dropped and the aircraft stopped its climb around 16000 feet and returned to Portland International Airport for a safe landing. No injuries were reported.
