On July 15, 2025, an Emirates Airbus A380 safely landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York after operating with one of its four engines, engine #1, shut down in flight. The aircraft was flying from Dubai when the crew decided to shut down the outer left engine because of a suspected technical problem.
Despite the reduced power, the crew adhered to standard operating procedures, and the aircraft completed its transatlantic journey without incident. It touched down safely at JFK, and all passengers and crew disembarked without injury.
