A Mesk Air Boeing 747-4H6, reg 9H-MSK, operating cargo flight MA102 on behalf of Elitavia Malta, experienced multiple bird strikes during takeoff from Tripoli-Mitiga International Airport on November 28, 2025, before diverting safely en route.
The aircraft, bound for Muscat International Airport, departed around 23:00 local time when it reportedly ingested several birds shortly after rotation. The crew continued the climb but later observed abnormal vibration indications on engine No. 2. Following standard procedures, they shut down the affected engine and requested a diversion.
The 747-400 freighter subsequently diverted to Malta International Airport, where it landed safely without injuries to the crew. Initial inspection revealed substantial damage to one engine and possible wing-surface impact marks consistent with heavy bird ingestion.
