China Airlines Orders Five More A350-1000s

Taiwan’s China Airlines has confirmed a firm order for five more Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft, expanding its commitment for the larger A350 variant to 15 jets, up from the previous 10-aircraft order. The announcement was formalised on 18 December 2025.

The new aircraft will supplement China Airlines’ existing long-haul fleet, which already includes 15 Airbus A350-900s, and support the carrier’s strategy to modernise and grow its international network. China Airlines Chairman Kao Shing-Hwang stated the additional A350-1000s align with the airline’s long-term growth plans, improving fuel efficiency, range and passenger comfort on intercontinental routes.

Airbus welcomed the follow-on order, describing it as a strong endorsement of the A350-1000’s performance and its ability to help China Airlines meet its network ambitions. The A350-1000 can fly approximately 9,700–9,800 nautical miles non-stop and offers significant fuel burn and emissions reductions compared with previous-generation widebodies.

Deliveries of the additional aircraft are expected in line with Airbus production timelines, with entry into service later in the decade as part of China Airlines’ broader fleet modernisation programme.
