An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-790 (WL), operating flight AS62 from Juneau (JNU) to Sitka (SIT), was struck by lightning during the short 23-minute sector on Monday, 15 December 2025.
The aircraft, registered N644AS and manufactured in 2003, sustained minor damage to a winglet as a result of the lightning strike. Despite the event, the flight continued and landed safely with no injuries reported among passengers or crew.
Following post-flight inspections, Alaska Airlines elected to remove the aircraft from service, and it was ferried the same day to Seattle (SEA) for further inspection and repairs. The damage was classified as minor and repairable, and no additional operational impacts were reported.
