On 5 January 2026, France’s civil aviation authority Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile (DGAC) asked airlines to cancel approximately 15% of scheduled flights at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Paris Orly Airport due to snowfall and winter weather conditions affecting airside operations.
The request applied through the evening of 5 January and was intended to reduce congestion, ease runway and de-icing constraints, and stabilize operations during the weather event. DGAC warned that snowfall could lead to delays, additional cancellations, and knock-on disruption across the Paris airport system.
Passengers were strongly advised to check their flight status with airlines before traveling to the airport, as schedules were expected to remain fluid while conditions persisted. Airlines implemented revised rotations and recovery plans as ground crews focused on snow clearance and aircraft de-icing.
