On 22 December 2025, a bomb threat was reported on board a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight operating from Amsterdam to Hyderabad, prompting precautionary security measures and a safe landing in India.
The aircraft, a KLM-operated long-haul flight KL879, departed Amsterdam Schiphol Airport bound for Rajiv Gandhi International Airport when authorities were alerted to a potential security threat. The crew followed established security protocols and continued to Hyderabad, where the aircraft landed without incident.
Upon arrival, the aircraft was parked in an isolated area and met by airport security, bomb-disposal units, and emergency services. All passengers and crew disembarked safely. A thorough inspection of the aircraft was conducted, and no explosive device was found. The threat was later deemed unsubstantiated.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines confirmed that safety procedures were followed throughout and reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority. The incident caused a limited, temporary disruption at Hyderabad airport, with normal operations resuming shortly afterward.
