LATAM Airbus A320, Reg CC-BAZ, departed from Santiago, Chile, to Asuncion (Paraguay) with 48 people on board. On approach to Asuncion the crew made a go around due to weather. The aircraft then diverted to Foz de Iguacu, Brazil. When returning to Asuncion the aircraft flew through a severe thunderstorm and received damage to its radome and windshield. The reason for the deployment of the RAT is vague, initial details point to an in-flight engine shutdown. The pilots performed an emergency landing in Asuncion. All 48 passengers and crew disembarked with no injuries.
