On December 3, 2024, two LATAM aircraft collided during ground operations at Congonhas Airport, São Paulo. An Airbus A320 taxiing on the runway struck an Airbus A319 initiating a pushback maneuver. Despite attempts to avoid the collision, the A319, registered as PT-TMA, sustained damage to its rear fuselage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and passengers disembarked safely.
LATAM stated that the incident posed no risk to passengers or crew and that all affected customers would be re-accommodated on other flights. The airline is cooperating with the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) to investigate the incident and expressed regret for the disruption, reaffirming its commitment to operational and passenger safety.
