Riyadh Air Orders 60 Airbus A321neo Aircraft

On October 30, 2024, Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national airline, announced a firm order for 60 Airbus A321neo aircraft. This strategic move aims to bolster the airline’s fleet ahead of its planned launch in 2025. The agreement was finalized during Riyadh’s Future Investment Initiative forum, underscoring the nation’s commitment to expanding its aviation sector.

The A321neo, known for its fuel efficiency and extended range, will enable Riyadh Air to operate regional and long-haul routes. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to diversify the economy and enhance tourism. This order complements the airline’s previous commitment to 39 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, bringing its total aircraft orders to 99.

Yasir Al Rumayyan, governor of the Public Investment Fund and chairman of Riyadh Air, stated that this deal “underlines the airline’s ambitious intentions in advance of next year’s launch, as it builds a comprehensive international network and establishes Riyadh as a major strategic global aviation hub.”

This significant investment in Airbus aircraft highlights Riyadh Air’s strategy to establish a modern and efficient fleet, positioning itself competitively in the global aviation market.
