A Ryanair flight FR1121, operating from Birmingham (BHX) to Tenerife (TFS) by a Boeing 737 MAX-8-200, reg EI-HGO, was forced to return to Birmingham Airport on 28 December after encountering severe turbulence shortly after departure.
According to reports, turbulence caused injuries to several passengers, requiring medical assistance upon landing. The flight crew declared an emergency as a precaution, allowing priority handling by air traffic control and the presence of emergency services on arrival.
The aircraft landed safely, and medical teams attended to affected passengers. Following inspections and crew assessments, the flight continued to its destination, though with delays.
