Air Canada has received its first Airbus A321XLR, becoming the first Canadian airline to operate the long-range narrowbody aircraft.
The aircraft is the first of 30 A321XLRs planned for Air Canada and marks an important step in the carrier’s fleet renewal and network expansion strategy. With a range of up to 4,700 nautical miles, the A321XLR is designed to connect thinner long-haul routes that may not require a widebody aircraft.
For Air Canada, the type will help bridge the gap between traditional narrowbody and widebody operations, offering more flexibility on transcontinental and transatlantic services. The aircraft can open new nonstop routes while improving efficiency in markets where demand is strong but not large enough to support larger aircraft.
