Airbus has reached a visible milestone in the development of its A350F freighter, with installation work beginning on the aircraft’s large main-deck cargo door.
The cargo door is one of the defining structural features of the A350F, enabling it to handle large freight pallets and heavy commercial cargo. Its installation marks an important step as Airbus continues to prepare the freighter prototype for ground testing and the broader certification campaign.
The A350F is Airbus’s answer to growing demand for modern, fuel-efficient widebody freighters. Based on the A350 platform, the aircraft is designed to offer long-range cargo capability with lower emissions and improved operating economics compared with older-generation freighters.
As testing progresses, the program remains a key part of Airbus’ strategy to expand its presence in the dedicated air cargo market and challenge Boeing’s long-standing dominance in the widebody freighter segment.
