On July 18, 2023, passengers on board a Deltas Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta fell ill while the aircraft was waiting to take off, with temperatures reaching 111 Fahrenheit or 44 Celsius. The air conditioning had not been turned on and finally, after multiple passenger emergencies, the aircraft returned to the gate. Flight attendants were seen carrying oxygen tanks for seriously ill passengers. Multiple passengers passed out. When emergency services arrived, numerous passengers and crew were taken to the hospital and the flight was finally canceled. Delta has since apologized and has started an investigation into what happened.
